Meaning 'night rain', Amaya just seemed like the perfect name for this rhodonite ring. It's a little bit cosy and a little bit dark and moody, and features a stone that seems to have so much movement captured within it.
A one of a kind piece that combines rustic, textured details with a contemporary and unusual shape - making rings like this is why I love being a silversmith.

Ethically handmade from scratch (silver wire, silver sheet + stone) in my North Devon studio.
Notes on the Gemstone:
This beauty was given to me as part of a retired artist's crystal collection. I then sent it to a British lapidary artist to cut it into a cabochon as she saw best, and she opted for a trillion shape with the inclusions running diagonally. This has resulted in a truly unique stone and one of my favourites to date.
Notes on the Design:
I wanted to lean in to the bold and moody feeling of this stone and to complement the dark streaks of manganese oxide running through it, so I opted for a shadow box style frame and trios of oxidised hand-engraved details.
To create contrast, I offset these dark details with a bright polished finish for the silver band and bezel.
